Where Smartphone Internet Sites Are Moving Right Now With The Help Of Cellular Phone Technology
Matt Cutts has already declared that Google has plans for expanding its search engines in general, using a more social approach to incorporate calendars and the like, and also smartphone websites. So it is very clear the giants are looking forward to growing with the 4 billion global mobile phones - as well as the shrinking one billion personal computers.
But before you can know where smartphone websites are heading, and what is in store for them, you have to have a concept of what 2010 is bringing to the wireless industry.
The iPad has been having quite a buzz, with it's tablet-style nine inch touch screen with full 1024 X 768 resolution. It promises up to 64 GB flash memory, with a speaker and microphone, and the ability to flip between portrait and landscape view.
It also guarantees to fix some of the problems linked to tiny phone screens. It's been launched as fast, but it has not been met with universal approval.
First of all, its internet browser obviously does not support Flash, so this is just one of the smartphone websites issues that the mobile technology will have to fix.
And there has been a "surprise" negative reply from the female internet population, a large number of whom all obviously quickly thought of sanitary napkins, the moment they heard the name.
Nokia N961 is having much more positive reaction, with its rotating screen, high definition graphics, light weight, camera and sliding design. It supports MP4 as well as tradition MP3 formats, as well as a 256 mb micro SD car, and Bluetooth technology that can basically let you transfer files to another device.
Samsung and Sony Ericsson are not to be outdone, both introducing new mobiles with equally eye-catching (some say irresistible) features. The Samsung Z600 also sports Bluetooth, whereas the Sony Ericsson W999i supports "GSM talk time of up to nine hours".
But it is not just mobile devices that are flourishing: Software and apps are keeping-up with the race. This year, Microsoft is releasing its "Microsoft Office Mobile 2010"; and the Calgary Herald lately reported: "Mobile Internet to take Huge Leap Forward in 2010" - and this in spite of the economy doing a nosedive, last year! As stated by the Herald, quoting a press release by John Ruffolo, we can look forward to "network traffic jams" - but Ruffolo goes on to predict heavy progress in the areas of:
eBooks for SmartPhones, PC's and tablets
internet tablets (like the iPad)
Micro payments for content (that's a good idea for marketers to pay attention to!)
heavy online sales, disrupting the advertising market
So it is not just my belief. In spite of predicted traffic jams, increases in rates to combat over-heavy data usage and the infamously called iPad mobile technology and smartphone websites are not going anywhere soon!
